“HoldOn” clips
After more 20 years of using safety pins, old pennies or washers and bits of
string, I always thought there had to be a better way of shortening back
cloths and gauzes without damaging them.
Batten clips are OK if you are flying the cloth and you have enough batten
and sufficient clips, but cloths on wipe tracks have always been much more
of a problem.
THESE CLIPS WILL DO EITHER AND NOT DAMAGE THE CLOTH
I’m sure you can imagine number of times cloths have been returned with a
neat row of holes about 2’ from the header tape caused when pins have ripped
out, and of course such damage is chargeable to the hirer.
Gauzes are notoriously difficult to shorten successfully, and can easily be
totally ruined.
When the man from Hall’s told me about these things I wondered if finally a
solution had been found – well I think it has!
We’ve had some samples here for a while, and I reckon that they are so
superior to any other method of cloth shortening that anyone who ever deals
with hired backcloths should have a stock of these in their kit.
There are of course loads of other uses for the little beggars too; rigging
temporary banners and screens, putting up temporary masking or quick change
areas, paging drapes, etc etc.
The mini’s are fine for lightweight cloths (calico) gauzes etc, and the
maxi’s for heavier weight cloths (canvas), tabs and the like.
They are available in BLACK or WHITE from stock from Scenic & Property Hire.
